Abstract
In this book, the author, a Harvard psychologist, argues that parents, not peers or television, are the primary shapers of their children’s moral lives. He contends that parents' intense focus on children's happiness; obsession with achievement; and desire to be closer to their children; have eroded their influence as moral mentors and have imperiled their children's moral growth. The author highlights inspiring parents, teachers and coaches, and presents concrete strategies for moral, happy children.

In the second, alphabetical, half of the book they offer guidance to parents facing common pressures and stresses, such as how to keep a child safe without instilling fear, countering the electronic barrage of violent games and marketing aimed at children, coping successfully with varied family configurations, over-scheduling, competition, and many other vital issues today.

Abstract
In this book, Dr. Levine, one of the best-known learning experts and pediatricians in America today, explains that some students are strong in certain areas and some are strong in others, but no one is equally capable in all. Yet, many schools still hold onto the one-size-fits-all education philosophy. He shows parents and educators how to identify individual learning patterns, explains how they strengthen a child's learning abilities and help overcome the child's weaknesses, producing positive outcomes instead of repeated frustration and failure.
