Developmental Disability
Abstract
The Life Facts managing emotions kit contains materials that are designed to teach persons with learning and/or developmental disabilities about feelings and how they can be managed. Like other programs in the LifeFacts series, its purpose is to deliver basic information, not provide a comprehensive review. As such, the authors have chosen to concentrate on the four core emotions from which all other feelings arise: sadness, anger, fear and happiness. This program is designed to assist staff in providing a foundation from which their students can begin to build self-control.

Abstract
Safe and healthy behaviour occurs largely as a result of social skill competencies and social inclusion. The policies in this guide focus on building said competencies by providing means of addressing specific skill and environmental deficits of individual residents. It is the intention of these policies to reflect human relationships and sexuality as a source of human fulfillment and joy. In light of this understanding, loving relationships and sexuality are reflected in these policies as human rights. They include: freedom from sexual stereotyping; freedom from sexual oppression; freedom of information; freedom to control one's own body and freedom to express affection.

This manual identifies social skills that are especially important, and offers a context in which to teach "target behaviours", or social skills identified as important for individual clients. The format of this guide blends structured and unstructured activities so that training can occur on two levels: individuals are taught new skills systematically and are then given the opportunity to use them spontaneously with your guidance and support.

Abstract
Health care professionals need to understand their patients’ views of their condition and its effects on their health and well-being. This book builds on the World Health Organization's concepts of 'health', 'functioning' and 'quality of life' for young people with neurodisabilities: it emphasises the importance of engaging with patients in the identification of both treatment goals and their evaluation. Uniquely, it enables health care professionals to find critically reviewed outcomes-related information. The authors are leaders in their respective research fields and discuss theory, concepts, and evidence, and how these are applied in clinical settings and research applications.

This is a program for educators to use to teach children about puberty. Each section can initially be taught to separate sex classes. Each picture card included in the kit has an individual objective with information and teaching questions on the back. Lesson plans include teaching strategies to supplement the use of the picture cards. These strategies encourage increased student involvement through the use of dramatic play, activities which require students to think and make decisions and demonstration and use of real hygiene products. Tests have been developed for this curriculum to determine the level of student understanding.
