Abstract
This book emphasizes the concept that every person's viewpoint is unique, that we each have our own reality or story, and that we bring that story to every interaction we have with others. Thus, a critical component of having effective and meaningful dialogue with others is our ability to be aware of our own stories "in the moment" and understand that others have their own stories. The book offers techniques to enhance our skills at learning through interaction. In addition to focusing on heightening awareness about our one on one interactions, this book also identifies how a reader may apply these skills to analyzing and improving systems (for example, analyzing patterns of communication behavior and potentially improving those interactions based on uncovering why those patterns exist).

Abstract
Safe and healthy behaviour occurs largely as a result of social skill competencies and social inclusion. The policies in this guide focus on building said competencies by providing means of addressing specific skill and environmental deficits of individual residents. It is the intention of these policies to reflect human relationships and sexuality as a source of human fulfillment and joy. In light of this understanding, loving relationships and sexuality are reflected in these policies as human rights. They include: freedom from sexual stereotyping; freedom from sexual oppression; freedom of information; freedom to control one's own body and freedom to express affection.

Abstract
Daniel Goleman has written a groundbreaking synthesis of the latest findings in biology and brain science, revealing that we are ?wired to connect? and the surprisingly deep impact of our relationships on every aspect of our lives. Far more than we are consciously aware, our daily encounters with parents, spouses, bosses, and even strangers shape our brains and affect cells throughout our bodies?down to the level of our genes?for good or ill. In Social Intelligence, Daniel Goleman explores an emerging new science with startling implications for our interpersonal world. Its most fundamental discovery: we are designed for sociability, constantly engaged in a ?neural ballet? that connects us brain to brain with those around us.

Abstract
DateSmart-1 uses a realistic approach to teach students how to support the choice for abstinence. Each program uses NotSmart/LifeSmart examples to focus on issues every student must address: how to set sexual boundaries; how not to be emotionally manipulated; how to avoid people with "one-track" minds; what social situations to avoid; how to protect their personal space and how to use "I'll PASS," a new way to say "No" that fosters partner support; how to learn that sex and love are not the same -- and much more.
DateSmart-2 teaches students how to control their emotions and avoid impulsive reactions to intimate situations. Through humorous NotSmart examples, students learn what actions can lead to trouble. The program teaches men not to date minors and how to refrain from manipulative actions that exploit women. Women learn how to recognize trouble and how to avoid behavior that can send unintentional, provocative signals. Common misconceptions about the opposite sex are addressed.
Notes
Although originally designed for students with mild to moderate learning, emotional and cognitive disabilities, LifeSmart Curriculum series is appropropriate for any population in need of a comprehensive review of basic life skills.

Abstract
Andrew Solomon tells the stories of parents who not only learn to deal with their exceptional children but also find profound meaning in doing so. He writes about families coping with deafness, dwarfism, Down syndrome, autism, schizophrenia, multiple severe disabilities, with children who are prodigies, who are conceived in rape, who become criminals, who are transgender. While each of these characteristics is potentially isolating, the experience of difference within families is universal, as are the triumphs of love Solomon documents in every chapter.
