Abstract
This curriculum for children from birth to 3 years with mild to severe disabilities links assessment and intervention. The book begins by describing the approach and principles of CCITSN and how to use the curriculum. The book outlines 24 teaching sequences, which are clustered into five areas: cognition, communication, social/adaptation, fine motor, and gross motor. Every sequence is introduced with a short description and special adaptations for children with motor, vision, or hearing impairments. Each curricular item or behavior within a sequence includes a materials list, a procedure and functional activities for teaching the skill, and the criteria for successful mastery. This new edition extends the age range from birth to 24 months to birth to 36 months. The curriculum can also be used with older children who fall within this age range developmentally. This volume overlaps with the second edition of The Carolina Curriculum for Preschoolers with Special Needs. This edition has more emphasis on home environment, play and emergent literacy. The appendix describing common conditions is also new to this volume.

Abstract
Written at a third-grade reading level for boys ages 9-16 with Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, mental retardation, fragile X, or other special needs.
The book's succint text, realistic illustrations, and learning activities enable boys to read the book themselves or follow along with the aid of an adult. Its reassuring, matter-of-fact tone shows boys what changes--inside and out--to expect during puberty, and how to manage them:
Growth spurts and bigger muscles
Voice cracking and deepening
Blemishes and oily skin
Body and facial hair
Moodiness
Crushes, flirting, and sexual feelings
Erections, wet dreams, and masturbation

Abstract
In this book, the author, a Harvard psychologist, argues that parents, not peers or television, are the primary shapers of their children’s moral lives. He contends that parents' intense focus on children's happiness; obsession with achievement; and desire to be closer to their children; have eroded their influence as moral mentors and have imperiled their children's moral growth. The author highlights inspiring parents, teachers and coaches, and presents concrete strategies for moral, happy children.

Abstract
Windows to the Womb guides the reader through the first nine months of life from conception to birth. Using recent breakthroughs in embryology, interuterine photography, ultrasound, and other sensitive instruments of measurement, the author describes the amazing construction of our physical bodies, the "ultimate architecture," and draws parallels with the expansion of our minds as our brains and senses develop and grow. Dr. Chamberlain details new discoveries in embryonic and fetal research that support his own findings on the impact of the mother's emotional and physical state during pregnancy; the importance of bonding at the earliest stages, long before birth; and the steps that expectant parents can take to ensure the most nurturing start in life for their children.

Abstract
An award winning documentary film that explores how early relationships shape the structure and function of the developing brain. Narrated by Noah Wyle, What Babies Want demonstrates how life patterns are established at birth and before by documenting heart warming personal experiences before, during and after childbirth as well as evidence of consciousness, communication and awareness in prenatal, newborn and very young infants. This film challenges our beliefs about what infants are thinking and doing and provides ground-breaking information on early childhood development.

Abstract
This book provides clinicians with a guide to use, administration, scoring and interpretation of the Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development. The Bayley-III contains new features such as growth scores and the generation of language measurement independent from cognitive ability that set it apart from its predecessor. This book also shows clinicians how to interpret the results from the Bayley-III and how to integrate those results within diagnostic assessment and intervention planning. Case studies illustrating typical and atypical cognitive, language, motor, social-emotional and adaptive behaviour are presented.

Abstract
A parent's guide for children in the preschool and first-grade years. Through profiles of four very different children, the authors apply their "touchpoints" theory to each of the great cognitive, behavioral, and emotional leaps that occur from age three to six. In the second, alphabetical, half of the book they offer guidance to parents facing common pressures and stresses, such as how to keep a child safe without instilling fear, countering the electronic barrage of violent games and marketing aimed at children, coping successfully with varied family configurations, over-scheduling, competition, and many other vital issues today.

Abstract
A book that aims at proving that training preschoolers with flash cards and attempting to hurry intellectual development doesn't pay off. In fact, the authors claim, kids who are pressured early on to join the academic rat race don't fair any better than children who are allowed to take their time. Alarmed by the current trend toward creating baby Einsteins, the book urges parents to step back and practice the "Three R's: Reflect, Resist, and Recenter." Instead of pushing preschoolers into academically oriented programs that focus on early achievement, the authors suggest that children learn best through simple playtime, which enhances problem solving skills, attention span, social development and creativity. The authors walk parents through much of the recent research on the way children learn, debunking such myths as the Mozart effect, and pointing out that much learning unravels naturally, programmed through centuries of evolution.
