Abstract
What to Say to Kids When Nothing Seems to Work offers parents an effective, step-by-step guide to some of the most common struggles for kids aged 5?12. Written by mental health professionals with over 30 years? experience listening to kids? thoughts and feelings, this book provides a framework to explore new ways of responding to your child that will help them calm down faster and boost their resilience to stress.
With a dose of humor and plenty of real-life examples, the authors will guide you to "build a bridge" into your child?s world to make sense of their emotions and behavior. Sample scenarios and scripts are provided for you to customize based on your caregiving style and your child?s personality. These are then followed by concrete support strategies to help you manage current and future situations in a way that leaves everyone feeling better. Chapters are organized by common kid-related issues so you can quickly find what?s relevant to you.
Suitable for parents, grandparents, and other caregivers of children and pre-teens, as well as professionals working closely with families, What to Say to Kids When Nothing Seems to Work is an accessible resource for efficiently navigating the twists, turns, and sometimes total chaos of life with kids.

Abstract
Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) is a complex brain syndrome that affects the way we experience sensations in taste, touch, sound, sight, smell, movement, and body awareness. What may be typical activities for most kids - eating, dressing, making friends, or responding to a hug - become daily struggles that may result in social, emotional, or academic problems. In this book, SPD researcher and author Lucy Miller brings together her research and stories to teach parents and others the signs and symptoms of SPD and its four major subtypes; ways the disorder is diagnosed and treated; strategies for coping with it; and advocacy methods to bring families help and hope.

Abstract
At some point, children become curious about babies. This usually happens when a new baby arrives in a family (or is about to arrive and all the grown-ups are talking about it). But it can happen at other times, too.
Children want to know where babies come from in general. They also want to know, specifically, where they came from. These aren't the same question, and they don't have the same answer.
One answer articulates the unique story of their conception and birth, while the other offers the basics of how all human beings are born. Both stories are valuable. The first connects a child to their personal life history as well as their familial, cultural, and ethnic background. The second connects all children to each other; reminding us that while differences are important, and shouldn't be erased, shared humanity is a pretty cool thing, too.
This book helps adults tell children that second story. It doesn't include information about sexual intercourse, donor insemination, fertility treatments, surrogacy, or adoption. But it creates a space for you to share as few or as many of those details as you like.
Few adults are automatically comfortable talking about these things with children. For this reason, I've developed a simple reader's guide for parents. You can download it for free at www.what-makes-a-baby.com.

Abstract
Finding out your unborn child has been diagnosed with a poor or fatal prenatal diagnosis is devastating news sure to reverberate through your family's life forever. The emotional aspects of such a pregnancy and the practical implications of an adverse diagnosis are difficult to navigate. The Prenatal Bombshell is a warm and understanding companion guide through the journey from diagnosis and beyond once you've decided to either continue or end your precious pregnancy. Issues such as managing the pregnancy, delivery, termination, creating memories, future babies, and the long term impact of such a traumatic experience are all covered in detail. The lived experiences of other women who have gone through this journey are also included to provide hope, support, and guidance through difficult times. The Prenatal Bombshell does not attempt to convince women to make a particular choice about their pregnancy. It supports them from their choice onwards in a way that is honest, informative, and reliable. Filled with stories and testimonies, this is a helpful book to have during, and well beyond, a poor prenatal diagnosis.
