Abstract
This DVD addresses name-calling, homophobia and stereotyping. Designed for Grades 4-8, it is intended to start discussion to teach children about the negative effects of certain words and bullying behaviour. In the video, children's paintings magically transform into two animated adventures of Anta, Habib and Jeroux as they deal with homophobia and bullying at school. Woven into these short animated stories are film clips of an actual class discussion between an equity educator and elementary school students. In a lively talk about why names are bad and hurtful, stereotypes about gays and lesbians are dismantled and new views are put into place by the children themselves. Young viewers are challenged to think about their responses to people and families different from their own.

Abstract
Bullying in schools has garnered significant attention recently, but little has been said about the bullying of homosexuals and transexual students in Canadian high schools. This book fills that gap by exploring the experiences of youth who identify or are identified as "queer." Based on interviews with recent high school graduates in British Columbia, these researchers provide stories of physical, verbal, and emotional harassment in this group and offer insights into the negative outcomes that result from the experience of being bullied. On the other hand, however, these young people were not helpless victims: many learned to rely on resistance, inner strength, and true friends. In the last chapter, the authors make recommendations for handling homophobic and transphobic bullying in high schools and supporting students who experience this form of harassment.

Abstract
Bipley is a warm cuddly creature, but someone has broken his heart. He feels so hurt that he decides it is just too painful to ever love again. When he meets some big tough Honks in the wood, they teach him how to harden his heart so that he doesn't have to feel hurt any more. Luckily Bipley meets some creatures that teach him how he can protect himself without hardening his heart. The guidebook will help childern who: bully or take revenge on others for the pain they have felt themselves
have become very defensive because something too painful has happened to them; have hardened their hearts because they have: been too hurt in love, met with too much harshness, witnessed parental violence, been repeatedly hit, been shamed or humiliated, or had too many experiences of not being responded to; think they have lost their parent's love to someone else and have hardened their heart.

Abstract
This three-part radio program examines the relationships among young girls. Through audio diaries, a picture emerges of how girls use friendships to hurt each other and win social power in the group. Parents struggle through denial and disbelief to accept and deal with the consequences of this behavior. Discusses the true story of a fourteen-year-old girl who committed suicide. Concludes that social bullying among girls is not an acceptable part of growing up.

Abstract
When Jake was three years old at Miss Lulu’s Dainty Diaper Day Care Center, what did he know about bullies? Nothing. But he learned fast--too fast! Why? Because Jake is kind of smart, and he’s not a tattletale, and he doesn’t have a big brother to protect him. He’s a perfect bully-magnet. But now that Jake is in fourth grade, he can look back and see that the year that made the difference was second grade. That’s when Link Baxter moved to town. Link was a SuperBully, and Jake had his hands full just trying to survive. Then it was class project time, and who did the teacher assign to be Link’s partner? You guessed it. Jake has to use all his smarts--and his heart as well--to turn himself into Jake Drake, Bully Buster.

Abstract
Four stories, told first in English and then in Spanish, explore the imaginative lives of children. The first two tales by Max Tell were originally written in English and have been translated into Spanish by Silvana Goldemberg. The other stories were written by Goldemberg and "interpreted" by Tell, rendering the English and Spanish versions subtly different. "Johnny Small" concerns friendship built on an act of kindness between a very small boy and an enormous boy. "Rodney Scribble" is about a wacky society built around the idea that legible writing is a menace. "Martin, the Brave Prince" shows his aunt what he wants to be when he grows up. In "The Smile Plant," a little girl copes creatively with the loss of a tooth.

Being harassed at school, targeted while using the Internet, or left alone at home are realities for many middle schoolers. This program empowers students to feel confident in their ability to protect themselves in the face of violent behavior they may encounter. It shows students how being assertive, developing a personal safety plan, and trusting their instincts can help them avoid victimization and stay safe. Combining real teens' stories with advice from violence prevention experts, program teaches students how to: go to and from school safely; prevent theft of personal property at school; avoid a physical fight; handle a bully; deal with sexual harassment; be safe when home alone; use the internet safely.
Reproducible student handouts reinforce practical skills and strategies. Program ends with the message that if students are victimized, it is never their fault.

Abstract
This book helps youth function in an increasingly violent and less secure world. Explores important topics such as: The combination of forces that create "human volcanoes" who explode with rage and violence; The "hidden" violence that permeates our entertainment, news, and language. Because we've all become desensitized to this destructive force, we must learn to see the media with new eyes; How tolerating behaviors such as teasing, sarcasm, and bullying, which often leave emotional scars, actually encourages future acts of violence; Specific steps young people can take to reduce violence in their personal behavior, their relationships with family and friends, and in their schools and communities.
