Abstract

Abstract
Circles involves categorizing social roles and designating the colour circle with its associated Three "T's", Touch, Talk, and Trust. Video mini-dramas serve as illustrations of common social relationships and display typical touching behaviours as well as conversation levels and degrees of safety. In Circles, the emphasis is on matching the social role with the appropriate circle colour and teaching students to model behaviours that are parallel to those seen on the video. Part 1 lays the foundation for making distinctions among the various kinds of relationships that each person has.

Abstract
Meet Ryan. He is just like you and me, except that he suffers from a rare skin disorder called EB. Because of this disorder, Ryan experiences painful blisters, his skin peels off, and infections occur on a daily basis. Rather than feeling sorry for himself, Ryan's goal is to make others aware that people with EB are just like you and me. Ryan loves talking on the phone, playing with friends who give him a chance, painting, singing, writing stories and playing chess. Despite his fragile skin, Ryan is truly a strong and spirited gift to the world, as he shares his inspirational story.

Abstract

Abstract
Depicts, step by step, children demonstrating various social skills. Each skill is formatted sequentially, similar to a cartoon strip, with digital pictures of actual children combined with text and cartoon bubbles to denote what the children are saying - and sometimes thinking - as they engage in the skill. Included are the right (and sometimes the wrong) way to act with accompanying text that enhances the learning experience. These pictures provide a means to compensate for the inherent difficulties many autistic individuals share. They make explicit what to do and say in social situations. In addition, by utilizing a picture format, they capitalize on students' visual processing strengths to facilitate attention and comprehension.
