Il concerne également les professionnels de l'enfance et de la famille (éducateurs, assistants sociaux, psychologues, enseignants, etc.) qui sont amenés à suivre un enfant en deuil. À l'aide d'explications théoriques et d'exemples tirés de leur pratique, les auteurs apportent un éclairage ciblé sur différentes facettes du processus de deuil de l'enfant. Des pistes de réflexion et d'action sont suggérées et détaillées par âges, allant de la prime enfance à l'adolescence. Des conseils utiles sont également proposés aux adultes et à la famille dans son ensemble. Ce guide a été réalisé par les intervenantes de la fondation As'trame, qui accompagne des enfants en deuil et leurs familles depuis plus de vingt ans. L'expérience accumulée au cours de ces nombreuses années constitue la substance même du livre. Celui-ci est structuré en chapitres indépendants qui peuvent être lus séparément les uns des autres.
