Abstract
This new addition to the TWD group of treatment manuals is a workbook for parents attending the 10 session concurrent parent group for the TWD therapy group for anxious children. It functions both as a guide for the therapist and a workbook for parents.
The manual includes session outlines and core content for each of the 10 sessions as well as Parent Activities which help parents to explore the impact of anxiety in their families and encourage them to experiment with new strategies. Detailed explanations and worksheets help parents to support children in undertaking systematic exposure therapy through Worry Dragon Challenge Ladders. Parents learn self-care and mindfulness skills to help them be more effective in managing anxiety and frustration in themselves and the family. Use with TWD Facilitator's Manual, Children's Workbook and Core "Taming Worry Dragons" book.
For professionals, patients, families. In the absence of a parent group, the manual may also be helpful for parents whose children are in individual or group therapy that is based on the TWD model of cognitive behavioural therapy.

Abstract

Abstract
Scaredy never sleeps -- sleep might mean bad dreams about dragons, ghosts, vampire bats and polka-dot monsters. Our wide-eyed hero has a plan: stay awake all night, every night. Between counting stars, playing cymbals and making scrapbooks, he does a good job of avoiding dreamland. With exhaustion taking its toll, Scaredy comes face-to-face with an alarming horoscope prediction: All his dreams are about to come true! He must prepare for the worst and his Bad Dream Action Plan includes a fire extinguisher to snuff out dragons and a fan to blast away ghosts. But when disaster strikes, will Scaredy survive this ordeal? Will he thank his lucky stars? Will he find sweet dreams? Scaredy Squirrel at Night tackles a fear everyone -- and especially the young -- can relate to. It's a bedtime story to make light of kids' fear of the dark and a fable for our sleep-deprived society.

Abstract
Created by health care professionals at BC Children's Hospital, this manual helps teach kids how to manage their anxiety. Using cognitive behavioural therapy in a language kids can understand, it explains what anxiety is and provides helpful coping strategies. There are also tips for parents and other coaches, including information on medications. This program can ideally be used with children from 8 to 12 years old but can be adapted for both younger and older children. This manual includes both a description of the technique and has some exercises and activities included. If you'd like additional activities, consider one of the workbooks "Taming Worry Dragons Therapy Group for Anxious Children - Children's Workbook" or "Kids Guide to Taming Worry Dragons".

Abstract
What is courage? Certainly it takes courage for a firefighter to rescue someone trapped in a burning building, but there are many other kinds of courage too. Everyday kinds that normal, ordinary people exhibit all the time, like 'being the first to make up after an argument,' or 'going to bed without a nightlight.' Bernard Waber explores the many varied kinds of courage and celebrates the moments, big and small, that bring out the hero in each of us.

Abstract
As the makers of blockbuster movies like The Birds, Jaws and Arachnophobia well know, animal fears are the most commonly reported phobias. Some 6 percent of Americans suffer from diagnosable animal phobia at any given time, and 11 percent will experience an episode at some time in their lives. Nearly three quarters of animal phobia sufferers are women, and most symptoms of animal phobia come on in childhood. Since most people with animal phobias experience panic attacks when they encounter certain animals, these fears can cause victims to lose significant quality of life. Fortunately, specific phobias are among the most responsive of anxiety disorders to behavior therapy, the research-proven treatment adapted for self-help readers in this book. Readers first learn about their phobia, where it comes from, what factors influence it, and how best to prepare for treatment. Then they learn to confront and overcome their animal and insect phobia. These techniques are effective and fast. The book includes information about avoiding relapse and helping someone else who suffers from an animal phobia

Does even the thought of a visit to the doctor's office start your heart racing? You're not alone. Some 30 million of us have a significant fear of doctors, dentists, medical procedures, blood, needles, and so forth. These fears might already have inconvenienced you, but if you're avoiding necessary medical attention, you could be putting yourself in great physical danger.
But you don't have to live with these fears anymore. This book can help you overcome your medical phobia, maybe in less time that you ever thought possible. Start by learning about your fears, where they might come from, what factors influence them, and how you can best prepare to overcome them. Then you'll gradually and safely confront your specific fears. The book also includes information about avoiding relapse so you can maintain your progress, as well as steps for helping someone you care about who suffers from a medical phobia.
Learn about your fears, how they may have begun, and the methods used to treat them
Prepare for treatment, either on your own or with the help of a professional. Explore exposure-based strategies for overcoming your fears. Learn strategies to prevent fainting. Plan relapse-prevention strategies to maintain your progress. Engage your family and friends as sources of support.
